can't sleep

*Sigh* I've been up for a couple of hours now. I think I woke up when I heard tatsuko_shikibu eating her crunchy food; this means that she is out of soft food, and only soft food prevents her odd little esophagus from doing odd things and causing her to barf (why do we let animals live with us? Oh, yeah, the love thing). Is it insomnia if you wake up after most of a night's sleep?

So I got up and fed her half a can (her usual twice-daily dose) of Iams soft food. She purred so loudly she overpowered the morning birdcalls. Gobble. I tried to go back to sleep to no avail, so came up here to check email (got another nine final projects from students), read LJ, and check eBay (well, you never know). I dread the afternoon.

Sun's just about cleared the horizon now. When I woke, the moon was a gorgeous and bright waning gibbous, and the stars were barely visible with the approaching dawn and moonlight.

Good day to y'all!

Chris

For some reason, I too am up. I've had only 3 hours of sleep but that doesn't change the fact that I am awake.
I thought this was the perfect time to start another batch of beef jerky. Now my house smells of teriyaki. Yum!
I hope your day proves to be a good one!

Another day perhaps? We can go have Waffle House hash browns smothered covered and whatever else.

That sounds great... do you mean the Waffle House that's 20 miles from here? Um, okay!

(PS: Can you tell that I got back to sleep? I guess eating helped.)

Maybe it's just something about today. I woke up at 3:00 this morning and wasn't able to get back to sleep. I finally gave up and went for an hour long jog at 4:45. I forsee a very early bedtime for me tonight. ^-^ Hope you have a good day.

Wow! That's an early run! That was about when I decided I couldn't sleep any more - did you run by the light of the moon? I think, for me, it's that I forgot to take my night-time Benedryl and I'm really sensitive to Tatsuko's little noises.

Maybe you should spend your insomniac hours building a rocket powered by oreos.

You have shown me a new favorite website. Sugar rockets!

I think I might have figured out why I woke up: I woke up again a few hours later (I was able to fall asleep after eating some cereal), and what woke me was chest pain, the same pain I felt a few years ago when I was working two full-time jobs. Not heart-related, said the emergency room people, but instead some kind of under-ribcage swelling (the actual medical term was something like "atypical chest pain syndrome") that can be moderated by ibuprofen. I had forgotten about this and haven't been taking anti-inflammatories since my shoulder started feeling better. Huh!

I used candy corns once to keep my fire going while I was grilling because I was out of lighter fluid. It really works well!
