Speed Racer tonight at 6:50!

Hey, locals, a few of us from the SF Club are heading out to see Speed Racer tonight at the 6:50 show. Hope to see you there!

And now, some gratuitous Mach V photos! The original car:

I'm seeing it at 7 tonight with some folks here (at the most awesome movie theater in the US, if you ever get back to Austin, you must see a movie at the Alamo Drafthouse). Oh, and I just love the car!

Usually I'm not such a car person, but Speedy is such a part of my youth, I have such fondness for him and Trixie and the monkey, I can't help it.

It is not Speed Racer without the monkey!

Remember the GEICO Speed Racer commercial that was big a few years ago? How Speedy was about to crash and the monkey just sits there and nods? It killed me every time I saw it!

I just posted the official music video on my LJ, with lots of scenes from the movie, and indeed, there is a monkey.

Monkey? You mean some of you actually watched the TV show?

I thought it the least interesting cartoon shown in the 1960s.

Well, the stories (such as they were) were forgettable, but that show had the coolest car on TV.

Let me know what you thought. I am not impressed by new trailers. But, will probably go see it.

It was much more fun than I had been expecting. Low expectations = pleasure for such a movie. It was sure pretty to watch.
