Today is Cassini's 10th anniversary! To celebrate, the Cassini website has uploaded lots of good stuff. For example, check out this amazing close-up of Saturn's atmosphere:

Like Jupiter, Saturn has bands of clouds that jet around the world in opposite directions, creating these eddies and storms. Here's a more typical shot of Saturn, if any close-up from orbit can be called "typical":

Kellie Wells reading in Lawrence this Friday

This looks cool:

Kellie Wells, a KU graduate, will give a fiction reading this coming Friday, October 19th, at 7pm in the Jayhawk Room of the University of Kansas student Union in Lawrence, Kansas. Wells won the Flannery O'Connor Prize for her collection "Compression Scars." Her novel, "Skin," recently came out. Wells currently teaches in the writing program at Washington University in St. Louis.
