Earth-from-space

Astro-Porn of the Day: Flying through the aurora

You've seen cool space photos before, but check this out. Japanese astronaut, Soichi Noguchi, snapped and Tweeted this shot from the International Space Station, which is the big structure at the top of the photo, with a Soyuz spacecraft hanging below it. The just-launched Space Shuttle was on its way to dock when this shot was taken. Zooming below the ISS at 28,000kph is the Earth. That green swirlyness topped with red floating above the Earth? That's the Northern Lights as seen from space. Just HOLY WOW:

This month, the IMAX Hubble movie is in theaters, something that was pure made-for-3D. Must go NOW. It's an awesome time to be alive.
