So what's up with that? I was just showering (yes, I stayed up too damned late listening to the returns) and wondering that, myself. I think it's because what just happened in the USA is that the citizenry rejected Neocon-ism. I think this was not a mandate for Democrats but a defeat for Neocons. Thus I feel a shared victory with partisan Dems, because almost everything they stand for (or at one did stood for) is what I believe in. That's as opposed to the Neocons, who lived in a fantasy world of Old Boys' Clubs, huge wealthy earned on the backs of others, and a desire for Empire... and they were just using the United States to earn that empire, which wouldn't have belonged to any of us non-Neocon-elites after all was said and done. We would have been living in a Third-World country where no one had a job, but the elites would have owned the world from their orbiting Empire stations, sucking out the life-blood of this planet and its inhabitants until it was used up, at which time they would have moved on. If we had discovered alien life at some point, they would have found a way to destroy and/or subjugate them.
The Neocons are just plain evil. Yes, I honestly believe that, and when all those whingers on Fox "news" and Neocon radio shows used the phrase "Bush-haters," they were on the mark: Yes, sane people hate Bush. He is fucking evil, or at least is the figure-head for a legion of evil Neocons.
And now they are gone.
We have a future once again. Please don't fuck it up, Democrats.
Best,
Chris
