I agree with a lot of their choices and nothing, in my opinion, surpasses 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY. The thing that bugged me about Steve Kraske's show on KCUR was that Kubrick was given almost all the credit for the innovative properties of the movie. Not only by the guests of that show, but I've heard and read that elsewhere--sometimes Clarke is given no credit at all. Kubrick deserved a lot of credit, of course, but 2001 could never have been made without Clarke. Clarke wrote the novel ahead of the screenplay and the realistic aspects of space travel portrayed in the film are Clarke all the way. Watching the movie is, in many ways, like reading a Clarke novel.
