We're not in Kansas anymore.

Nope, it's more like Minnesota or something.

Geez, what is this, the fifth major snowstorm in as many weeks? I always thought of Kansas winters as mild, warm, and un-snowy. Um. Also, for the ride up to my office this morning, the temp was -1. That's in Fahrenheit. I just scooted home, barely in time to avoid having to leave the scoot at Wescoe Hall for the weekend.

Where oh where are the Kansas winters of yesteryear?

Chris

Having lived in Kansas since I was 5, I can say this is a typical winter. We've had some enjoyably mild winters these past few seasons.

I add to the previous: according to my mother, who grew up in Kansas, this IS the Kansas winters of yesteryear.

OKAY! Hehe.

This is the town that shut down the schools when it was GOING to snow, but didn't.

And it wasn't supposed to snow here, but it DID.

The kids would love it in OR.

Well, my dad grew up in Kansas and he had to "walk ten miles to school in ten feet of snow...."

A friend of mine told me that the winters of yore in KS, when we had snow for *weeks* on end was a weather anamoly in the entire scheme of things, but I'm beginning to think it's been the other way around.
The winter I moved here (Feb 94) it snowed all the time through Feb too. We had sooo much fun tromping around in it to look at apartments and houses.. not.
