Isn't that just amazing? Even "regular" photos of this nebula are gorgeous, but this is, well, beyond that.

See, that's the secret: This is actually a vast optical device for examining people around the galaxy (and some nearby ones, too). At its current range from Earth, it has resolving power capable of reading automobile license plates. At least they're benevolent... or their government was when they built it, anyway....
