a ray of hope from Congress

So tmseay forwards this little bit of hope that Congress won't simply buckle to Bush Jr's demands.

Makes one think that perhaps - just perhaps - the Democratic Party has a backbone after all. Not that their Senate counterparts have grown one yet, but perhaps the lesser house has.

Hm.

The House Of Reps have been particularly sassy of late. I hope they will stand up to the Orwellian machinations.

I heard that bit about Joshua Bolten and Harriet Miers on the news last night and I had a moment of "wait a minute...really?"

I'll cross my fingers, but I'm not holding my breath.

I was perturbed that Hillary said that even though she didn't vote on the bill, she would have voted against it. That way, she can appease her target audience with feel-good language, but not give her opponents fuel for fire. Sure, it's a smart political move, but still...

She and Obama are currently having a love affair with Texas.

Not a homerun, yet
Some House Democrats are waivering.

I sent an e-mail to Representative Moore, asking him to not cave to Senate and Administration cries of "Wolf!"

Even if it takes parliamentary tricks to stop it, we have a sign of hope. Sucks that the Senate couldn't even grow the spine to refuse the telecommunications amnesty provision though.
