Exciting! I haven't read Bacigalupi's novel yet, but I'm excited about it on principle because I like his short stories so much. And "Spar" was fantastic. So was District 9! Whee!

(I may seem overexcited because I'm up late and have been drinking and playing games--and winning--but my excitement is no less genuine for it.)

I loved The Windup Girl, and District 9, too. I want to read Valente's book. I wish I could have been there to buy Joe Haldeman a celebratory beverage!

Lots of great stuff this year - and attendees got to witness the last launch of the Space Shuttle Atlantis. *sigh*

I hope to have such a celebration, myself, in about two or three days. About 70 final papers this semester! Eeek.

Can I just say how awesome and weird I think it is that Valente's story has come so far? Impressive. And really inspiring to those of us who give things away for free on the internet.
