Also re: Transcendence novel

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention:

I plan to give away electronic copies of the book in all the available formats; in a newbie version of Cory Doctorow's experiment (but without anything nearly as fancy, nor a Publisher's Weekly gig, nor... well, much similarity), I'll be documenting how giving away the novel helps sell copies and how many people make donations for the downloads, and so forth. It'll be interesting to see how a new novelist's experiment compares to Cory's results - or to other newbies selling in more-traditional ways.

If you're someone who is adept at converting from .pdf into the various e-reader formats, let me know! The more formats, the better.

Okay, back to work am I!

I'm curious to see how it works out for you.

I'll certainly post about my experiences.

How do you plan on giving it away? Are you going through the publisher? Your own website? Online book sellers?

Through my website, though I suspect we can work something out via the publisher's site. Online booksellers are about the cash-buckies, so won't be able to give it away there; however, we will have a Kindle version, etc.

What are your thoughts on this?

Mostly curious, although I have a friend who runs an electronic book store. Small business.

I wonder if it is possible to partner with small places like this who already have a running store to promote it as free for a small time.

And I can convert to many formats. I'll send you an e-mail with an example. I can't really test how it works with all the current versions of various readers because I don't have those various readers, but I can't at least convert a document.

Sorry, my reply apparently didn't show up! The .pdf is only for proofing purposes; the e-versions will be of all types.

Do you mean give it a CC license? Absolutely!
